A Quick Note

Good Afternoon Kidlets.  I thought I’d let you in on some changes that will be taking place around here shortly after November 2nd.  I’m fricken exhausted with politics.  I’m tired of this whole damn presidential race.  Let’s just vote already.  Ok?

Anyway, after Bush wins re-election, (and giving a few weeks for the undoubted complaining about unfair voting and counting from the other side that will have to be covered), this blog is going personal.  I’ve been wanting to do that for a very long time but each time I mentioned it, someone would email me and tell me that I had to continue the fight.  Our forefathers, (I refuse to call them the Founders....fuck PC), our soldiers, etc. don’t get to just move on to something else...damnit, Serenity, you have to keep fighting!  It’s far too important!

Heh...people.  Come now.  Does anyone honestly think I’ve educated anyone?  Have I actually changed anyone’s mind?  Have I been the proverbial light switch clicker in someone’s mind to see what is really going on?  Doubtful.  Oh sure, it has it’s fun moments and as anyone knows, I can’t pass up the opportunity to be snarky....or, as I prefer, old school....a smart ass...but after the election is over, what is there to write about?

You see, I have a confession.  While I agree that this race for president is extremely important, and while I agree that there is so much chaos in this world and that we, as the strongest nation out there, should do our part to help, I just don’t care that much about politics.

There.  I said it.

I floundered around in the beginning because I was trying to find my footing around here, something that remotely interested me and when I realized that there was the potential of Kerry becoming president, I knew I had to stand up and do whatever I could to smack some sense into people.  After that?  I just don’t care enough to write about it every day.  Besides, there is no shortage of political blogging and writers and reporters and radio talk show hosts and all that other stuff out there.

I want to write about things I encounter every day.  I want to talk about customer service.  I want to write about animals and the horrible things people do to them.  Not because I like that people do horrible things to them but because I want to raise the awareness of just how often it happens.  Don’t freak out....I’m not a fricken vegetarian or an animal right’s activist.  Settle down.  I am, however, for making a difference to our furry, feathered or scaly friends.  (Exception:  those with 8 legs who shall not be named.) I want to write about experiences I’ve had in my life and how they have shaped the person I am today.  I want to write about “the little things” that really are big things if people were to admit it.

So, yes, I’ll blog once again about this final debate and I’ll continue to blog right on up to elections about politics.  Chances are, I’ll be blogging for a bit longer afterwards unless Bush wins in a landslide.  But once it is final, once it has been determined who the president of this country is, I will halt political blogging.  I’m not even going to get suckered in by those who want to claim another theft of the presidency.  It’s ridiculous, it’s boring, it’s tired, it’s used and who gives a shit because who they say is president, IS.

The one thing that I will continue blogging about that won’t be all encompassingly personal is about our soldiers who are fighting, getting injured and dying for this country and to bring peace and democracy to other countries.  I support our troops.  Always have, always will.

And please, if my personal little experiences and stories aren’t your cup of tea, don’t feel obligated to come here.  Really.  Look, last year, December, I predicted that I would have a whole new readership within a year and I wasn’t too far off the mark.  I still have some of my long time readers, (lurves ya peeps), but I got a whole batch of new ones.  It happens.  It’s okay.  Of course I hope that whatever I write keeps you around but again, if it doesn’t interest you, no worries capice?

Now then, I need to rest up for this final debate...right after I watch Gilmore Girls which is on right now.  Till then kiddies....
