I'm Feeling The Old Irish In Me Today
The more people I meet, the more I understand why some people live in the mountains. Let me state up front for those who like to push the panic button and assume that I mean something else, I am not JUST talking about the people in this town or the people I meet at work. I like where I live and I love my job. Settle. Down.
I have met literally thousands upon thousands of people so far in this lifetime and I see more vacant, zombie like stares, people with absolutely zero sense of humor; either they don’t think anything at all is funny or they are just too damn stupid to get it, haughtiness, sense of entitlement, selfishness, unabashed rudeness than I do downright, honest, hard working, humble, good humored people. I’d say about 15% have been the latter. I really do wonder what is up everyone’s ass sometimes. Granted, with the vacant zombies and the idiots, it’s their thumbs but the others? Honestly....what. is up. their ass? It’s like they enjoy being pricks and angry all the time.
And, um...question. How can you call yourself one of “God’s chosen” if you have no empathy or compassion for your fellow human being? Isn’t that kind of a requirement if you are one of the “chosen”? Did I get taught from a different bible?
Speaking of mountain people, I just watched a really good movie called, “Song Catcher”. You will like it if you like old Irish, English and Scottish music. I’m talking hundreds of years old. Those old folk songs and ballads that were brought over...I know a few of you who would enjoy it. But anyway, I was watching it and the main character goes up in to the hills where all the hillbillies are, (coincidentally, I was flipping through channels the other day and I think it was History Channel had that Billy Ray achy breaky guy on there doing a special about hillbillies...turned out to be quite fascinating), and I got to thinking, they may not have much but damn that looks peaceful. The biggest thing to worry about is where is my next meal coming from and dangerous creatures....which I worry about in the fricken city anyf-enway. Will I have enough money to eat and the dangerous creatures are other people. And think of the fresh air!
Where I live now is incredibly peaceful but it’s not the mountains, way out in the wilderness, far, far away from civilization. Although sometimes it feels that way. But, surprisingly, I do like it a LOT better than almost any other place I’ve ever lived. The only thing that would be better, and has always been a main goal of mine, is to have a house on the beach. This, where I live now, is second best. But I think I now understand those mountain people a little bit more...there really are just a lot of...oxygen abusers out there. (That’s the nicest way I could put that...and even then I’m sure someone will get all upset about that remark even though they think it to themselves, secretly.)
Oh, I almost forgot....just so you know, lightning does indeed strike in the same place twice. A few posts or so ago I was talking about the lightning storm we had here and how it struck right outside my home, (not sure if anyone read that since that was the week no one was talking), and it did the exact same thing again early this morning. No matter how many times that happens, that is not something I think I’m going to get used to; it’s very unsettling. Well, it’s downright scary is what it is. I do not want to see another fireball right outside my window again. I do think the ground wires from my satellite dishes and the fact that I turn everything off during a storm are what is saving us, (me and the kittehs), from becoming singed flesh kabobs.
Ok, time for another paid ad. Hey, got another mouth to feed now. By the way, she still doesn’t respond to her new name but it’s only been a couple of days. She’s adapting. Currently she’s curled up on the floor by my bed, dozing. Looking all pitiful...on the floor...sheesh. Get up on that bed, kitteh!
