Everyday I’m getting some new bill from the E/R facility where I went to when I broke my ankle. It has advanced beyond the “WHAT?” stage to “Oh BULLSHIT!” stage.
I got my “E/R” bill not too long ago with a total charge of $623. Ok. I’ve broken a bone before and that is just about right. Fair enough. Sucks ass but fair enough.
I was working on getting that taken care of.
But it hasn’t stopped there apparently! Since then, in between law offices and other agencies sending me letters telling me I’m supposed to be paying them, I’ve received MORE bills from the E/R.
I have one for over $300 for “Physicians Services” and a note stating that this is a separate charge from the hospital charges.
THEN! I got another bill from Radiology for the x-rays, also “separate from hospital charges”.
What the fuck exactly was that $623 for then? Two Vicoden, a slab of plaster, ace bandage and crutches?
MY ASS!
Am I being charged for the 2 1/2 hours I lay on the floor in pain thinking I was gonna vomit or pass out because they didn’t have enough beds to accommodate all the patients?
I’m already pissed off for having to pay $278 for an orthopedic surgeon to tell me something I already knew. That 5 minute visit consisted of cutting the bandage, looking at the x-rays I brought in with me from the E/R!!!! and telling me, “Yep. You need surgery.” And no, they did not give me a new splint, they just wrapped up the old one again.
These charges are ridiculous and I think I’m getting double charged somewhere in this whole mess.
This post is not about asking for money, this post is about venting and asking for advice.
I’m accident prone. This is not the first time I’ve ever had to go into an E/R and this is not the first time I’ve not had insurance and had to pay this bill myself.
Something isn’t right here.
