Ok, so the doc refuses to just put a cast on the ankle...(I called to beg for that option)...he insists it needs surgery. I told him there was no way in hell I could afford that. I was given the number to the VA.
OH YAH! I’m a Veteran! I always forget that I have perks because of that. I called Eligibility and I am eligible for care and I don’t have to have $4000 up front before they’ll take care of me. All I need is a copy of my DD214.
I’ve looked everywhere and I doth believe my DUMB ass left them all up in storage, with the rest of my Army stuff, in Seattle.
I know the recruiter I was working with has a copy....but I can’t for the life of me remember his name.
You are all so full of information....anyone know how I can go about getting a copy of my DD214 really quick?
Thanks again all of you. You’re melting my cynical heart with your kindness. I appreciate you all.
More updates later.
[update] Not outstanding news. My old recruiter, who I finally remembered the name and contacted, does not have a copy. It takes 1-2 months to get it through the mail if I fill that form out online. AND, the only people I know in Seattle that I would even trust with the key to storage, aren’t going to be able to get it to me in enough time.
So, back to square one. I’m thinking maybe I should just quit updating until this thing either falls off or I somehow miraculously find a way to get it fixed. E/R will not put on a cast, the Ortho doc refuses to put on a cast.....sigh.
And my brother states that his Homeowner’s Insurance does not cover this and he is not willing to talk about it further.
So, that’s where I stand....er....sit right now.
Oh and for the individual who thinks I’m making this all up...how about you come on over and I smack you upside the head with one of my crutches. Sound like a deal?
