One Month To America

Are you guys tired of hearing about this yet? Sorry. It's what I'm doing right now and I'm having a difficult time concentrating on anything else. I did finally make it through my blogroll last night and read what you guys are doing and thinking. I've been missing a lot! Remind me to not do that again.

Anyhoo-I've received some fabulous ideas via comments, emails and other modes of communication from you guys. I can't thank you enough! (Paul-earplugs and a mini tape recorder...EXCELLENT!)

This trip is getting more expensive than I first imagined. I hadn't really thought about a cooler or radiator fluid or tire guages, etc...so that's putting a dent in my budget.

I was going to take the advice to stay in a hotel one night but I'm thinking I'm going to have to actually buy a cell phone instead.

Oh, the reason I had asked about gas stations was because I'd hate to be on 3/4 tank, pass a gas station and then not run up on another one for another 300 miles. That's just stress I don't need. I did find a good website that will help with a lot of my questions like this. It costs $19.95 though. I'll think about it. That's a tank of gas you see. heh.

Granted, this is an adventure, to say the least and some things you just have to, "go with the flow" as a friend wrote to me. Yah, that's true. But, it doesn't mean I should go out there blindly either. So I'll probably obsess over this for a few more days before I calm down. Please bear with me.

Anyway, some excellent advice and I adore you all for sharing your thoughts, experiences, wisdom. Please, keep it coming!

To all who have made donations so far: Your generosity is extremely touching. I will never forget a single one of you and what you've done for me. (I'm not sure if you all want your names revealed so I'm keeping this between you and me right now.)

In fact, once I get to TX, I fully intend on writing up a "Thank-You" list to all of you out there who have made this trip possible; whether you are a new pet parent, an advice giver or a donator. So, if you don't want your name displayed, let me know. I can understand that. Just know that you are helping someone live out their dream and your kindness will stay with me forever.

As one commenter pointed out, the Universe really does provide when you make your commitments and make them known.

And remember-I'm still looking for one or two homes for two cats. The home can be temporary, meaning I get them back after a year, or it can be permanent. I just need good homes for them. Let me know if you can help.

If everything works out, I'm hoping to leave in early September. Don't worry, I won't post about this every single day. In fact, tomorrow I will try to actually post about something interesting for you.
