Security And Peace Of Mind
In the past 10 years, I’ve known 5 people who have had their house broken in to and their personal belongings stolen from them. In one situation, the people were home. It was an extremely traumatic experience for this couple because the burglar apparently didn’t realize that anyone was home when he chose to kick in their door but he had no intention of leaving empty handed, either.
So we lock our doors and windows but criminals still break in. We put up motion sensor lights but criminals find ways to sneak around them. We get a dog but criminals either feed the dog, injure the dog or kill the dog, (or steal the dog). We can get weapons and that may work while we are home, but what about when we’re not home? What if you’re asleep like the couple I mentioned above?
The best way to deter a criminal from breaking in to your house whether you’re home or not? Something that makes a loud noise. Criminals do. not. want. to be noticed. They do not want the attention at the time they are committing their crime. What is the best way to inform the criminals that you have that something that makes a loud noise? Getting a security system installed and putting the sign out there in the yard, for them to see. It tells them, “I have a security system and if you mess with my things, you will get noticed because you and everyone else around are going to hear an extremely loud siren.”
I’ve also known 2 people whose homes burned down, while they were home, sleeping and 1 person whose home burned while they were at work. Two of them lost almost everything, (including their pets due to smoke inhalation), and one lost their life. It certainly makes a person start to think about what would happen to them if fire broke out. What if you don’t wake up in time? What if you are at work and a fire starts? It’s bad enough to lose your home and everything in it but to lose your pets on top of that? That’s too much.
Having a security system in place isn’t just to keep the criminal element out, you also want to secure your home from fire or poisonous gases. You might want to have video surveillance, (you can watch it on your smart phone), or you may be elderly or disabled and would have much more peace of mind if you had a medical monitoring device.
ADT is probably the most widely recognized security system available. They offer security as well as water sensors, freeze sensors, smoke and heat sensors and carbon monoxide detectors. They offer what is called cellguard, a service that allows you to speak to them when the phone lines are down. Or, you can even talk to them directly from your security panel by using their two way voice service.
With an ADT security system you get a wireless keypad, three points of protection, (front door, back door, garage door, for example), yard sign and window decal, (so a criminal will think twice, perhaps thrice before trying anything), the loud siren and a lifetime warranty. Also, if you do have pets, the system has a pet sensitive motion detector so that Rover doesn’t keep setting it off while he jumps on your couch, puts his paws up on your counter tops, digs through the garbage, barks at things out the window, etc while you’re away. You also get to knock off up to 20% off of your homeowner’s insurance and, (yes, there is more), a theft protection guarantee, (pays your deductible up to $500 if you do have a burglar break in), AND, all of this comes with a money back guarantee. Finally, if you’ve been with ADT for more than two years and you move, they will set you up with the Premium Mover’s Package and give you a free system for your new home PLUS 25% off any additional upgrades.
That is a lot for just about $1 a day. You get all of that 24/7/365. It’s like having a big brother watch out for you. No more hand wringing before vacation worrying about “what if”; “what if a fire breaks out?”, “What if someone breaks in?”, “What if I forgot to turn off the propane?” No more tense moments at night over every little bump you hear. No more worrying about dying in your sleep because of smoke, fire or carbon monoxide. No more worrying at all.
Get your security system installed, go and relax. Let ADT do the worrying for you.
