So Easy Even A Liberal Can Get It
This has been written here before but it’s so good, I’m writing about it again. The best way to describe the evils of wealth distribution to anyone who can’t grasp why it’s bad:
You and a friend, of equal abilities, attend the same college and take the same classes. You work your ass off. You show up for every class, you listen, take notes, study hard each night and do well on your tests. You pass with a 4.0.
Your friend skips many classes, doesn’t pay attention in class, never takes notes, parties all night long and does poorly on tests. Your friend gets a 2.0.
However, for the “common good”, and to make it fair, we will be taking from your 4.0 and giving some of it to your friend who got a 2.0 so that you both now have a 3.0.
That is wealth distribution in a nut shell.
Every single person I’ve said this to has agreed that they would be pissed beyond belief if that happened. I have repeated this to many, MANY a liberal as most of the ones I knew were of college age or had been in college. It was something they could understand. It was something they knew. It was something they had experienced, (college), and they didn’t like the idea of taking some of theirs to give to someone else, even a friend, who didn’t work as hard as they had.
I had one liberal stop in her tracks at a party one night. A friend of hers was being a typical liberal bitch when she found out I was a conservative. (I didn’t mention it, someone else did.) This particular liberal, however, was pretty decent. She was willing to sit down and discuss with me our differences with an open mind. When I realized that she just wasn’t understanding, I threw the above out at her. She was in college at the time and when I finished, she was silent for a moment. A look of comprehension started to cross her face. She was my first liberal I said this to and she was the first one to be shocked by the reality of it, actually think about what she just heard, understand what she just heard and at least accept that it wasn’t the best thing in the world. She agreed that maybe wealth distribution wasn’t such a great idea after all. It wasn’t fair. She didn’t like it one little bit.
I do not take credit for this. I read this on Acidman’s site many years ago. But it was so good, so simple, so easy to understand that I spread it around, far and wide, to anyone who had the mindset that wealth distribution was all about sticking it to the old, rich, white guys as if they had done nothing to earn what they had. Many of them worked their ASSES off for what they have. Some people do get things handed to them but a majority of people work for it. To be jealous of that is degrading to yourself.
This country allows you to achieve whatever you want to achieve. It’s not 100% failsafe. Sometimes a person can work their ever loving tails off and just can’t seem to get ahead. However, most people, who work hard will reap the rewards.
Now, working hard doesn’t mean just earning a lot of money. Working hard includes saving that money that you have made. It means you start from the bottom. You don’t get much sleep, you don’t have a lot of play time, you don’t go out and buy expensive homes, cars, clothes and gadgets. You live frugally because you have a goal in mind. You sacrifice more than just showing up to work 8 hours a day. You put in many hours, you may not have much of a social life, you educate the hell out of yourself, you don’t eat out every night and go to the movie and for drinks and all that other nonsense. You dedicate your life to achieving your goal.
THAT is the recipe for success. Those people have EARNED that. Yes, sometimes a little bit of luck is involved as well but most of it is good, honest, sacrifice and hard work.
To suggest that those who did all of this should hand over some of their success to those who are unwilling to sacrifice so much for their desires is a slap in the face. No one is stopping you from getting what you want either.
And if you try and fail, get your ass up and try again. You do not throw in the towel and start whining and complaining that it’s not fair, it didn’t happen, you worked hard and look where it got you. Do you actually think that every successful individual got it right the first time? HELL no. They have failed and failed and failed again. What makes them more successful is that they learned from those failures, regrouped and tried again.
They did not sit down and start pouting about things.
Anyway, again, this was written on Acidman’s site many years ago. Acidman is now dead so he is unable to see that now, years later, his words are being echoed by columnists who are widely read. (Townhall.com)
This guy went along the same lines but made it much more complicated. He is basically saying the same thing. I like Acidman’s version better because it’s simple. It’s simple, to the point and short enough to keep the attention span of anyone. I’m not saying that this writer didn’t have an original idea in his head, I’m not saying he stole it, I’m merely saying that Acidman came up with it first and his version is much better.
Too bad he’s not around to see how wise he really was.
