So, Yeah
Some of you may have noticed that the site was down for three days....heh, yah, kinda helps if you pay the bill. Actually, I had forgotten to update my credit card information....oops! Sigh...well, that’s over with now.
Moving on....
I did not tell you the ironic story about the whole car exchange from last week. I feel compelled to share it if only to illustrate just what a little bitch Murphy can be sometimes.
So, as stated, I had decided to drive the old car all over town getting things removed and to sell it, right? The night before I tossed and turned and worried that I might end up on the side of the road, stranded, because the car would keel over and die on me. Nonetheless, I had to try because how else was I going to get all this accomplished?
I got in the car and drove to companies, mentioned below, near my work, confident that if the car did actually make it anywhere, surely it would give up right around the four block area away from my job. But do you have any idea what happened instead? My old car must have sensed it was being sold and was on its best behavior. Yes. Not one overheat light, not one coolant spill, not ONE single fricken problem the entire day. It was like it was saying, “Don’t sell me, please! I can be a good car, really I can! Look how well I’m driving! Look! I’m not giving you any lip at all today! Please don’t give me away!”
This, of course, made selling it that much harder.
So, fast forward, stereo removed, poor little car sold, in the car lot with the new car. As stated, sign my life away and decide to go to the nearest store for cleaning supplies and air fresheners. (The previous owner had the car smelling like food...stale food. Blech!) I go in to the store, happy as can be, “Hurray! New car! No more problems! Refreshing! Relaxing even!” Get the stuff, come out to the parking lot, get in to my car, clean it up all nice and pretty and then decide it’s time to head home.
I start the car.
Engine won’t turn over.
Hmmmm...been awhile since I’ve had an automatic and I HAVE acted like a dork before and forgotten to put it in park first......nope..that’s not the problem. Turn the key again....engine won’t turn over. Am I too stupid to drive an automatic? I just drove an automatic the week before....what the hell?
Turn the key again...car won’t start.
Now...let’s recap, kids. Old car? Runs beautifully the entire day. New car? I have it for 20 farkin minutes and already I have problems!
So....I started to laugh. Maniacally. Right there in the grocery store parking lot. Because, really, what else can one do?
Called the car dealer people and told them about the car. Turns out the battery was dead. They gave me a jump and then loaned me the jump box just in case for the following day as I was to go up there then to get a new battery. Hopefully now all is fine.
I have to tell you though, because of the past year of car issues and then the new car giving me shit the first 20 minutes of ownership, I’m not quite settled and convinced I will have no more car problems. In time, as I get used to the different sounds, (read: engine), and such, I’ll be okay but for now? I’m listening to every single tiny sound that comes from that car and praying nothing is wrong with it. I’m sure it’s fine...I’m just a little gun shy. (Car shy?)
Anyway, let’s all thank Murphy, the gigantic jack ass, for that little story....and c’mon....this is ME! Of course that would happen, right? And yes, it is really funny. Now.
The only other thing I’m worried about is that I think the car needs an oil change desperately so as soon as possible, I’m going to get that done and THEN, maybe, I will relax a little bit. I’m also curious to see how long this car will last. Do you know, I’ve not had one single car for more than 1.5 years at a time? If I didn’t sell it, it was involved in a car crash or it fell apart. I really, really, really hope my luck is changing when it comes to automobiles.
