T Minus 6 Days
Wahoo! My DD214 is here! I’m so! relieved!
For those who have been following along, you know why this is extremely important and why I’m so happy right now.
Next Thursday will be a long day for me. I am scheduled to get my staples out then. So, while I’m there, I plan to take my DD214 and all my bills and submit my request to have the VA pay for them.
I can now tell the bill collecting peeps that I have my DD214 and that the process is beginning which is so much better than telling them, “Uh....I’m waiting on this piece of paper you see....” Bill collectors LOVE it when you give them dates and hate it when you tell them, “I’m not sure when it’ll get here actually.”
And I made lots of copies of the DD214 and I will never ever, as long as I live, ever leave it where I am not.
On a lighter note, I was looking at it and it looks like my parents could have gotten $50,000 if I had died while on duty. But, I’m a selfish lass and I opted to keep living. Oh well. They’ll get over it.
Wish me luck and hope to everything that the VA will pay for the outlandishly expensive bills.
If that happens, then 90% of my woes will be doused. The other 10% is regarding my job...if I still have one. I’ll deal with that later. Now, I’m going to celebrate by taking an anti-biotic and reading and passing out. YAY!
