Tax Day Tea Party Now With Photos
Not going to make a lot of commentary before and after the photos because this post is going to be pretty long with them in it. I will say that the rally began at 6pm and ended at 8pm. I arrived right about 6pm. As people got off of work, the crowd grew larger. The rally was held in front of a post office where people were going to pay their taxes at the last minute. What an appropriate place on April 15th. The first set of images are what I call the turnout photos:
The rest of the photos will be in the extended entry so as not to slow down the page load for anyone. What I will say at this time is that I miss my old imaging program I had on my now dead computer. Without it, this is taking way longer than is humane. On to the extended entry, kids....
Turnout images continued:
I have a few more turnout photos but I think you get the gist of it. Now I want to add some of the people’s signs that they made. Some of these are hilarious and some made me nod my head earnestly and say things like, “You got that right!” Again, all of these images following, I asked permission to snap and add to my site. Every single one of these people said yes. So, let me start off with the one that made me laugh the most:
I think he’s actually worse than Carter. Who knew that could be!
Here’s another sign that made me chuckle:
Here are some other great signs:
Oh my God I miss that old imaging program, like I said. You have no idea how long this is taking. With my old program, I would have been done about an hour ago. Do you see what I go through for you kids? By the way, I did use my old camera. Still haven’t decided on what new camera I want. I went and got a card reader after work today but I still have to get a new camera. Some photos I took came out rainbowy, (it’s a word), because my old camera doesn’t always work correctly. This is why I asked you all about new cameras. It wasn’t just a matter of not being able to load things on to my new laptop, it was also because my old camera is dying, as well. Nonetheless, it did a good job yesterday despite some photos I had to delete due to its issues. Ok, break time over, moving forward:
This lady reminds us of Rev. Wright's words:
Riiight. Or should I say, Wriiiiight. St. Hope and Change, for 20 years, had NO idea Rev. Wright said things like this. Uh huh. And tomorrow, 5 million dollars will be handed to me for no reason whatsoever except to make me happy. Sure.
Oh, snap!
By the way, no idiots showed up to cause problems and people were very peaceful during this rally. A lot of cars drove by, honking their horns, showing their solidarity, some had signs, some had “Don’t Tread On Me” flags, some had the American flag....a lot of people in cars as well as on both sides of the street and the median. One particular truck kept driving by. A male was driving, honking his horn while his wife hung halfway out the passenger side window with her, “Don’t Tread On Me” flag, waving it at us as they passed. They drove up and down the streets several times. In fact, we all got so used to seeing this truck that every time they drove by, coupled with the wife’s extreme enthusiasm, the crowd would erupt in to cheers. We all adored these people. I saw people of all shapes and sizes, all races, all ages, all different backgrounds, some going home, some still in work trucks, some going where ever it is they were going, showing their support for this rally. As many people that were on the streets with signs and flags were as many as in cars driving by.
Continuing on, here we see the news. I’m watching the news watch us:
I noticed news teams walking around with their mics and cameras. To me it appeared as if they were looking for anyone they could find to put a negative spin on their story. At one point I was standing next to a guy who was a little rough, albeit correct, in what he was saying and the reporter stopped behind him, holding her mic up just out of camera shot to get the audio. I don’t know if this IS what they were doing, it just seemed that way. I got on camera at one point. I was holding a “Don’t Tread On Me” flag that Bowhunter let me use after he left to go to his other job. Great, put me on the fricken news looking like this. I just got off work, I’m not cleaned up from a hot, sweaty day, my hair is a mess from driving airboats, my clothes are dirty....yah, PUT ME ON TV! I don’t know if I actually got on t.v. or not. When I came home, my stupid satellite company had an outage with the promise that the station would return shortly. If it did, I don’t know, I fell asleep shortly after that. I was going to record the news just in case I did make it on there....more out of interest to see what I look like to everyone else...but, that didn’t happen now did it?! Anyway, point being, I don’t know if they were fair and balanced. I go by what I’ve seen of their coverage in the past. Speaking of fair and balanced:
Some outrage:
Outrage at the abuse:
In case you missed that:
Miss my old imagine program. MISS my old imaging PROGRAM! Cripes, I took a lot of photos. We’re almost there kids. I’m going to grab a beer. In the meantime, please enjoy these photos:
I have a shirt with that on it. Well, “mousetrap” but same thing.
Shout out to Sarah Palin. (Image a little blurry...camera issues.)
Here is another of my favorite signs:
Ayn Rand fan:
Heh...people still find humor through the anger:
One gigantic tea bag. These guys wanted me to snap the photo of the words on this side of the tea bag. There was something on the other side but they felt this side was more blog worthy:
And that tea bag can go in this giant tea cup:
So true and yet Congress and St. Hope and Change can’t figure this out:
Now this photo is of a group of Cuban American veterans of war. I made sure to shake each and every one of their hands.
Again, the crowd was calm, orderly, friendly. You’ll notice that no one was dressed like a clown or spewing hateful things. They simply want their country back, as do I. We’re tired of working hard to support others who refuse to help themselves. Many misunderstand this. We donate a lot of money and goods to charity. We give our time as volunteers. We do what we can to help our fellow Americans. What we do NOT like is when someone wants only a handout and will make no effort to improve themselves or their lives. What we are sick of is this government telling us we HAVE to bail others out of their piss poor decisions. I don’t care what the Jones’ have. You do not have to keep up with them if you cannot afford it. Live within your means. Save some fricken money instead of spending it on every latest gadget out there because you think you have to have it. You do not NEED it. Most importantly, we are tired of this government trying to turn this great REPUBLIC into a socialist country. We do not WANT a socialist country. If you want that, move to Europe.
In this country, you work hard. You earn what you have. You are not entitled to it. I nor anyone else has an obligation to give our hard earned money to you. We can if we want to but we NOR the government has the obligation to bail you out of your messes. Stop telling us we have to!
This crowd that you see here:
is tired of working their butts off only to have government take it away to give to those who are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves.
This crowd that you see here:
IS, “We The People...”
And every single person in this crowd:
says:
Wake up, America. WAKE! UP!
