That Works Well
Some time ago I read a comment on someone’s site regarding how they handle telemarketers and it seemed so brilliant in its simplicity, that I decided to try it. I tried it out several weeks ago and it worked pretty well; those people never called me again. But one time does not mean success. I would have to continue with my official study.
I’ve been home today and the land line, that I rarely ever answer, has been ringing off the hook and driving me nuts. The people never leave a message and that annoys me. I refuse to pay for caller ID so leaving a message is the only way I’m going to know you called....or pick up the phone if I am here. So, since these people have been calling every 20 minutes, I feel no sympathy whatsoever.
The phone rings yet again:
Brrrrrrrrring!
Brrrrrrrrring!
I pick up the phone and say nothing but I can hear someone breathing. Finally the lady on the other line says, “Hello, I’d like to speak with (my first and last name).”
Me: Is Lakisha there?
Lady: Erum....eh...I’d like to speak with (my first and last name).
Me: Is Lakisha there?
Lady: Uh..um...well, I’m trying to...I mean, no ma’am there is no Lakisha here....um…
Me: Oh sorry! I must have the wrong number!
Lady: Um....
Me: Bye!
They haven’t called back since. Heehehehe! To whomever offered that suggestion, you totally rule.
