Watch Winders

You finally did it.  You finally saved up and got that expensive, high end, automatic watch you’ve always wanted, (like a Rolex).  It looks sharp, it runs great, and you treat it like a delicate baby.  You may not wear it often; only on special occasions, black tie events, etc. and not only do you need a place to keep it safe and protected, (tossed on to the top of the dresser after taking it off won’t work with this watch), it needs to be wound.

Automatic, (self winding), watches will wind themselves when they are worn, (there’s a moving weight inside the watch), because of the motion of a human being but when not worn, no motion means the watch does not get wound which means the watch will, eventually, run down.  You do not want this to happen to your beloved watch.  Believe it or not, automatic watches need to be “exercised” to protect the mechanisms inside the watch especially if it requires any resetting, such as the date.  You spent a lot of money on this watch, it needs to be taken care of properly.  You’re going to need a watch winder to mimic that human motion to keep it wound.

As time goes on and you realize how great your new watch really is, you may find that you want another and then another and next thing you know, you’re an official watch collector.  This means that you’re going to need a watch winder that will hold more than one at a time.  The orbita watch winder can hold and wind three watches at a time.  Incidentally, Orbita is the one that introduced such a product at the Basel 2000 watch expedition.  You could say they are a pioneer in watch winding products.

Watch winders themselves come in many varieties, prices and brands to fit your budget and tastes but don’t forget to purchase a nice watch case as well to display your beautiful watch or collection of watches.  From one watch to sixteen watches a case, you’ll know that your investment will be properly cared for and protected.

Keep it wound, keep it safe and proudly displayed and you’ll find that your watch(es) will continue working spectacularly for many, many years.
